Of the three coffees we are doing a final roast, this is the most complex and intense among the three with sunset in your face, red, orange and hues of pink and purple at the outer perimeter, apt for coffee bearing farewell to last season's Ethiopians and greet the new incoming season.... All previous roasts were on the Stronghold S7/S8, this roast was on the Roest P3000.

Former lecturer and electrical engineer Tamiru Tadesse saw the challenges in coffee, from overlooked potential to undervalued labour and prices. The Ethiopia Cup of Excellence in 2020 inspired Tamiru and his wife, Messi, to begin Alo Coffee. Their mission: to produce exceptional coffee, empower smallholders, and future-proof cultivation. In 2021, their very first submission — a lot from their home village of Alo in Bensa — won Ethiopia’s Cup of Excellence.
