Tamiru Tadesse was a lecturer and electrical engineer before 
coffee pulled him in. He saw what others missed — overlooked 
potential, undervalued labour. In 2020, inspired by Ethiopia's 
Cup of Excellence, he and his wife Messi started Alo Coffee. 
A year later, their first submission from their home village 
of Alo in Bensa won Cup of Excellence outright.
